Just yesterday, Google held a virtual presentation where it announced several initiatives in Mexico in an effort to diversify its services portfolio in new regions. You can watch the entire thing in the video below, but one of the things that stood out to me was that Stadia has plans to launch in Mexico later this year!
9to5Google states that Stadia Immersive Stream is launching as well. For those unaware, Immersive Stream is Google’s white-label, B2B solution for providing its cloud gaming technology to large corporations. Most recently, it did so with Capcom to let gamers play Resident Evil Village through the web browser!
Google said in its presentation that Mexico has more than 72 million gamers who usually play on their computers, their phones, and even game consoles. To see Stadia launch in a new location after this long is a clear sign that it’s still investing in the service, and that’s reassuring! Mexico will make for the 23rd country to get Google’s cloud gaming platform! While no specific date was given, it’s clear that there are many who are excited about this. Are you among them?
If you go on Twitter, you’ll constantly see users pinging Stadia and asking when the service will launch in their country only to be told directly in a reply that the company has no plans or that they can’t announce anything at this time. It’s such a marketing answer, but it’s true – something, we just have to sit around and wait for announcements like this, and today, we have it!
We’ve recently seen a lot of movement with cloud gaming on televisions as companies seek to take advantage of the central device in your living room. Samsung Gaming Hub just launched and features Nvidia GeForce NOW, Stadia, and more, for example, and overall, cloud gaming has seen loads of interest from companies and users alike. What country would you like Stadia to launch in next? If you say Brazil and I guessed correctly, let me know in the comments!
