Many women who want to lose weight struggle with their level of motivation. Some days they’re pretty motivated and do what they’re supposed to do. Other days, it’s not so easy. They find themselves sitting around eating junk food, feeling guilty and disgusted at themselves for “falling off the wagon”.
I came across a wonderful way to help you stay motivated and that’s what I am going to share with you today.
I was doing something really rare and watching TV one day when I came across a television show where a woman was being interviewed after losing a substantial amount of weight. She was asked the question, “How did you stay motivated?” after detailing her extraordinary success and how she got there.
She told the interviewer that she told all of her friends, family and even coworkers that she was going to lose weight. She also asked each of these people to sponsor her, so that when she reached her next milestone, they would either have to do something good for themselves or something good for her.
Here’s what some of her sponsors offered her when she reached a particular goal weight, so for example, when she reached 160 pounds, one sponsor would do something for her. When she reached 150 pounds another sponsor would have to “pay up”, and so on. She had a big chart with her start weight and goal weight, and her sponsors chose goal weights in between in which to reward her:
– One sponsor was going to give up smoking
– A foot massage (nice!)
– Cook her (a healthy!) dinner
– One decided to join her (now THAT’s motivating!)
– A beautiful bunch of flowers of her choice
– A new outfit
So get out there and get your friends, family and coworkers involved! Some may even want to join you and that’s the best motivation of all!
