I know we will see an influx of commenters talking about his old age soon and ask why we can’t leave him alone since he will probably not live very long anymore.
Nazi camp guards were mostly volunteers and were able to leave if they wanted to. They were cast for their conviction and were not executed or punished if they decided to take another posting. Even though this guy was a conscript in the beginning this does not change the fact.
His crimes are unforgivable and he took part in executions of innocent people. There is no statute of limitations for crimes against humanity and justifiedly so. 5 years is a steal for such horrendous actions.
