The six Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidates battled it out on Wednesday evening during the first official English debate of the race in Edmonton.
Jean Charest, Roman Baber, Pierre Poilievre, Patrick Brown, Scott Aitchison and Leslyn Lewis participated in the party’s first official leadership debate, which will be followed by one in French in two weeks’ time.
Topics discussed and debated included abortion legislation, the future of energy, the environment, law and order, the cost of living and the North.
This event came less than a week after five out of the six contenders put on a feisty performance during an unofficial debate in Ottawa, where much focus was paid to fighting COVID-19 mandates and the recent convoy protest in the nation’s capital.
