An Elden Ring modder recently managed to add Berserker protagonist Guts to the latest FromSoftware role-playing game as a boss character.
A new PC mod showcases how Berserker‘s Guts would fare in the world of Elden Ring as a boss character. Given Berserker’s influence on Elden Ring, it was only a matter of time before modders developed such a project. The popular manga and anime series even received an Easter egg in the latest FromSoftware adventure, which comes in the form of a greatsword that bears a striking resemblance to the Dragon Slayer weapon wielded by Guts.
Elden Ring has received a treasure trove of PC mods since its launch approximately two months ago. One early fan-made creation added much-coveted photo mode features to the experience. Another allowed users to summon boss characters as friendly allies. Others have flipped the script in interesting ways by turning a Tree Sentinel into Thomas the Tank Engine or introducing a playable Easy Mode. Needless to say, Elden Ring’s Easy Mode mod has proven especially popular since its arrival on Nexus Mods in early March. And the game’s impressive modding community recently unleashed another incredible project that is bound to capture the hearts and minds of many.
YouTuber Garden of Eyes teamed up with COTA Studios to produce an Elden Ring mod that brings beloved Berserker protagonist Guts to the Lands Between. Notably, the Tarnished must face Guts in an intense boss battle, which sees the man known as the Black Swordsman wielding his iconic Dragon Slayer greatsword. Guts even comes equipped with a combat moveset similar to that of the Half-Wolf NPC, Blaidd. Check out the full boss encounter in the video linked below:
This Berserker-inspired mod deserves nothing short of a round of applause. Guts‘ design and moveset are a sight to behold. Plus, the Multiverse story that establishes why the Tarnished must take on such a formidable foe warrants praise in its own right. There does exist one tiny disappointment, though – this particular Elden Ring boss battle mod lacks a second phase.
Over two years after its E3 2019 announcement, Elden Ring hit store shelves for PC, last-gen, and current-gen consoles in late February of this year. Most agree FromSoftware’s new opus exceeded expectations and, as such, warrants consideration as a masterpiece. No one can deny that its inventive design will influence countless open-world games in the years ahead, too. It should be interesting, then, to see which title marks the first to adopt Elden Ring’s acclaimed approach to open-world design.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
