The death toll from floods in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province surpassed 400, Premier Sihle Zikalala said Sunday, with the total now standing at 443. There were also at least 63 people missing, he said.
Search and rescue operations also continued on Sunday, with a helicopter and sniffer dogs brought in to search debris for survivors as well as to recover the bodies of those who perished.
Thousands have been left without a home, as power and water has been knocked out due to the rains, flooding and subsequent mudslides.
