It’s Budget Day in Canada, and as the Liberals prepare yet another pandemic-era spending plan, they need to figure out a way to balance promises targeting the rising cost of living with the volatility of an uncertain world, experts are warning.
Sources have Global News that there will be three big themes outlined on Thursday. The first will look at the country’s “green economy,” which will see more funding to invest in a new green fund to develop technologies like transit. The second, that may have Canadians really tuning in, is affordability and housing, with the government looking to building new homes including those in Indigenous communities.
The third theme is being called “Canada in the world,” in other words, what is the country doing outside our borders including defence spending.
David Akin breaks down what to look for in the budget when it’s tabled later Thursday and what is known so far.
