On the one hand, I see the humanity in it. A controlled, planned, and dignified death is a mercy that most do not get. We all die eventually, and it is an option that can spare many a fate that is painful, tortured and messy.
On the other hand, I wish there were more robust alternatives. To me it feels like the government would rather offer this than something that could actually help a suffering person find happiness (debt relief, substance cessation, alternative medicine, access to rehab and quality care facilities just to name a few). These all cost much more money, and I understand that…but at what price is a human being more valuable dead than alive? :/
Anyway, you’re doing the good work. Thanks for all you do. As a borderline who has really tested her own therapist at times, I recognize the burden you must carry day in and day out. It makes a difference even if it doesn’t always feel like it.
