Interim Conservative leader Candice Bergen spoke to reporters on Tuesday after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the Liberals had struck a deal with the federal NDP to govern until 2025, in a decision she said would really mean “an NDP-Liberal majority government.”
“This is nothing more than a Justin Trudeau power grab. He is desperately clinging to power,” she added.
Bergen said that while Canadians woke up “hoodwinked” by their prime minister, the Conservatives will hold the Liberals and NDPs accountable.
She said the Conservatives are concerned about what the deal will mean for reducing the federal deficit, reducing taxes, and reducing the high levels of inflation currently driving up the cost of living.
