President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced the U.S. will be sending an additional $800 million in military equipment to Ukraine to help in its fight against an invasion by Russia.
This follows a pledge by the Biden administration on Saturday to send $200 million in military aid.
The U.S. rejected a proposal by Poland last week that would have seen the Polish government send MIG-29 fighter jets to a base in Germany for deployment in Ukraine.
The White House has rejected repeated calls by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a no-fly zone to be instituted over Ukraine over fears it would lead to a larger escalation of the war.
Biden is set to travel to Brussels next week to meet with NATO leaders and allies amid the Russian threat to NATO countries.
