I don’t interact with Facebook and Twitter, because aside from political garbage it’s mostly ego masturbation or people putting on a veneer of affluence and success. We don’t see peoples’ day to day struggles, and we don’t see the real “them”.
Reddit puts the focus on the content, and if people are going through a struggle, they’re often up front about discussing it since the community is anonymous. We do have a bot and astroturf problem, but this site is probably the closest thing there is on the Internet to real, ordinary people going about their lives.
