HORROR pictures show the aftermath of a motorway race gone wrong – after a driver flipped his £700k Lamborghini.
The expensive car burst into flames in the suburbs of the Mexican city of Cuernavaca on Monday.
According to witnesses, the driver had been racing the powerful SVJ 63 model before he lost control and overturned.
The owner managed to escape the burning wreck and fled the scene as the motor exploded into a fierce fireball.
Emergency services quickly attended to douse the flames as motorway lanes were closed – until the charred wreckage was eventually removed by a crane.
Shocking images later showed how the fire had melted away most of the exterior with only the chassis and wheels left visible.
Mexican authorities now say an investigation to track down the owner is underway.
The latest high speed incident comes just weeks after a tragic crash killed a Greek businessman.
Tzortzis Monoyios, 45, who owned two clothes shops on the resort island of Mykonos, crashed his 200k Ferrari into a tree in Voula, a suburb of Greece’s capital city Athens.
He had only bought his flash sports car moments before and had driven just 2 miles before losing control of the vehicle and swerving off the road.
Tzortzis’ body was pulled from the car and transferred to a morgue in Voula.
His wife, Athina Kontopanou was in the car with him at the time.
She was helped from the burning wreckage by Greek singer Stan, who saw the tragedy unfold while driving behind the car.
