A Realtor’s bus bound for a tour of available real estate in Bradenton, Florida, should certainly be easy to fill. Bradenton, after all, bills itself as “The Friendly City,” ready to delight visitors and prospective home buyers with its tropical paradise setting of pristine beaches, dazzling Gulf Coast sunsets, and the many memorable activities that these places engender.
Bradenton indeed takes pride in being more than the largest principal city in the Florida statistical area it shares with the adjoining Venice and Sarasota. Its allure as a must-visit or an option to call home is best summed up by the pop band We The Kings. These Bradenton-bred musicians paid tribute to the city in their song “This Is Our Town” as a city to “return… to lakes, woods, fields… where we’re meant to be.”
Beyond such enticing lyricism are the other points of major interest at Bradenton. These include the city’s own signature beach at the nearby Anna Maria Island, one of the Florida Keys or barrier islands on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Bradenton Beach in this island offers all types of water adventure such as fishing, parasailing, and boating, in addition to the fabulous services offered by local dining shops and watering holes at its roomy pier.
For the avid fishermen among guests and residents, Anna Maria Island has three other big piers, ready to accommodate the whole lot of Florida beachcombers. All told, the beaches of Anna Maria span seven miles, including fabulous spots at the center of the island under the jurisdiction of the city of Holmes Beach.
Recreational pursuits at Bradenton City are, of course, not entirely water-based. The city also contributes immensely to Florida’s reputation as one of the havens for golfing in the US. One shining example is the River Run Golf Links, an 18-hole, par 72 layout that has distinguished itself in recent years as among the most popular municipal golf courses in the Gulf Coast. Opened in 1987, River Run was renovated and redesigned in 2005 to provide a wide range of challenges for golfers of all levels of play.
Stimuli to the economy of Bradenton City are provided not only by these tourism and travel-oriented attractions. Some large US companies hold fort at Bradenton. One is Tropicana Products, which count among the rank of the world’s largest orange juice manufacturers and marketers, which has its production facilities in the city. Then there’s Champ Sports, US-wide sports-apparel chain, which has its headquarters in Bradenton. To further entice investments, the city government runs an Enterprise Zone (EZ) program granting incentives, technical and financial, to varied business enterprises which choose to locate in the EZ.
Would-be Bradenton residents and guests will likewise be pleased to note that the city has a well-rounded list of excellent schools, colleges, and universities. These include the State College of Florida, University of South Florida-Manatee Sarasota Campus, and the New College of Florida. The latter, situated in the city’s border with neighboring Sarasota, is Florida’s honors college. Along the same vein, the world-famous tennis academy of Nick Bollettieri is also located in Bradenton.
Arts and culture, unsurprisingly, also flourish in the city. The Riverfront Theatre of Bradenton distinguishes itself for winning streaks as first placer in statewide, regional, and nationwide competitions. The city is also host to a Village of the Arts, an old, renovated neighborhood with special zoning laws enacted to encourage residents to rehabilitate and convert their rundown houses into galleries, studios, mini-restaurants, and other home businesses principally centered on the arts. Because of this project, Bradenton has earned a spot among the top ten US cities for working artists, one community that certainly contributes a lot to making living great in this Florida city.
The homes and real estate for sale in this fine city cover all price points and lifestyles. From opulent mansions along the water to quaint county cottages you will find something that appeals to your taste and your wallet. Prices are greatly reduced from the highs of 2005 and with interest rates at historic lows, now is a great time to consider purchasing Bradenton real estate.
