A winter storm system is hammering parts of the central U.S. including Minnesota and Iowa Friday with the weather set to carve a path through both southern and northeastern states, with Georgia, Virginia and even Washington D.C. preparing.
The storm, referred to by some as a “Saskatchewan screamer” due to it originating from that Canadian province, started late Thursday and is expected to last through the weekend and potentially into early next week.
Places like Georgia will likely see the weather Saturday and part of Sunday, with states like New York set to see the conditions move into the region late Sunday or early Monday.
